SSC GD photo and signature requirements for 2026

SSC GD Constable requires two separate uploads: a photograph of 3.5×4.5 cm (413×531 pixels) between 20–50 KB, and a signature of 4×2 cm (472×236 pixels) between 10–20 KB. Both must be JPEG files. The photo tab handles your photo; the signature tab handles your signature scan. Both are processed in your browser — nothing is uploaded to any server.

How to use this tool

  1. 1

Select the "Photo" tab. Upload your photograph (JPG or PNG). Tap "Process Photo" to resize to 413×531px and compress to 20–50KB.

  2. 2

Download the processed photo using the green download button. Save it somewhere easy to find.

  3. 3

Switch to the "Signature" tab. Upload a clear photo or scan of your signature on white paper.

  4. 4

If the signature looks faint, use the brightness/contrast sliders to make the ink darker. Then tap "Process Signature."

  5. 5

Download the signature. Upload both files (photo and signature) to the SSC GD online form.

Getting the signature right

The signature upload is where most SSC GD applicants make mistakes. The portal requires a clean signature on white paper — not a digital signature, not a signature on lined paper. Sign your name in blue or black ink on a blank white A4 sheet, then photograph it with your phone camera directly above the paper (not at an angle). Good lighting eliminates shadows that make the background appear grey instead of white.

The 4×2 cm dimension means the signature image is landscape-oriented (wider than tall). When you photograph your signature, the tool will crop and scale it to fit within 472×236 pixels. If your signature takes up a small area on the paper, crop the photo tightly around the signature before uploading — this gives the tool more pixels to work with and produces a clearer result.
